The statistics quoted in this HBO video clip are correct enough. And the United States, where the typical 11th grader was as well-informed as today’s BA’s, and where 8th graders could tell you the names, capitols, and principal rivers of every state; the names of the state’s Congressmen and Senators, Cabinet officers, the Vice President and the President; was the greatest country on earth. We were the greatest. We have the resources to once again become the greatest. But we must stop throwing minds and talent away. And above all, we must stop allowing those who will gladly take everything the State offers to impoverish those who make. Because in the long run, there will never be enough to satisfy the takers.
